The Vacancy

The Service Charge Accountant is responsible for the effective accounting of the service charge function across Peel L&P’s portfolio of properties and estates, working closely with the property and operations teams, and requiring regular interaction with tenants, service charge consultants and external auditors.  To conform to the industry’s ‘Best Practice Standards’ the role requires year end reconciliations be completed in a timely manner with all the correct supporting documentation. An annual budget is prepared, and monthly accounting processed including variance analysis.

Essential Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Minimum AAT level 3 or commensurate qualification by experience
  • Knowledge of core accounting principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RICS Code of Conduct for Service Charges
  • Inquisitive mindset and outlook
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks to, strong time keeping skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective team player
  • Flexible approach
  • Microsoft package i.e. Intermediate to Advanced Excel, PowerPoint etc
