The Vacancy
Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Head of Project Development, deliver District Heating Network commercialisation projects, and where required under contract manage the delivery phase supply chain.
Lead the client relationship and be responsible for the delivery of their project, or the Ener-Vate role in their project.
Deliver the commercialisation execution plan, using internal “virtual teams”, and procuring and managing external contract support teams to meet the commercialisation milestones identified. This will include design management and management of planning applications.
To be resource efficient in commercialisation delivery, challenging contractors on costs and scope to ensure value for the client and focussed on successful development of the project to financial close and delivery stage.
To develop and maintain close stakeholder relationships, engender trust in delivery and garner ongoing and repeat business for the Ener-Vate consultancy team, identifying cross-sell opportunities for the wider business.
Duties of the role
Managing the client relationship and deliver the project lead role, co-ordinating internal and external resource as required, working with the client’s other contractors
Delivering planning applications and development activities to Financial Close, including, but not limited to all required surveys, consultations and engagement with planning and other statutory bodies
Procuring and managing the supply chain to deliver the planning application and other activities as directed, such as design teams
Managing the delivery contractor(s) where Ener-Vate have been appointed in the District Heating Construction contract manager role
Develop, review, negotiate required agreements on behalf of our clients, ranging, not exhaustively from supply of design services, utility supply agreements, Environment Agency licences, or other bodies required for the successful delivery of the project, in conjunction with other parts of Ener-Vate as required.
Ensuring project control documentation is established and maintained in line with legal and project requirements and best practice
To support appropriate internal and external project reporting and chasing progression against the required reporting cycles
Attending meetings, logging actions and taking minutes and identifying and chasing outstanding activities, with support from Assistant Project Managers / admin support, or leading as required.
Ensure maintenance of project management and control documents, including, not exhaustively, hazard logs and risk assessments; action trackers; stakeholder trackers; financial reporting and budget trackers; project management plans and records management.
Communicating and highlighting potential issues to the Head of Project Development
Support in the marketing and promotion of the business across all forms of media and events.
Project management experience, ideally demonstrated through PRINCE 2 or similar Association of Project Managers qualification or industry experience.
High levels of analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Critical eye for detail for management of contracts, requirement management and reporting.
Ability to work manage multiple conflicting demands and deadlines.
Excellent verbal communication and report writing skills for a variety of stakeholder types and forums, especially the ability to directly call stakeholders to elicit positive project outcomes
Close management of budgets and demonstrable experience of variance negotiation and minimising costs for our clients
Knowledge of the UK planning system
Knowledge of developing energy projects in the uk
Desired skills/experience required
Personnel management and delegation skills to virtual project teams
Experience of successfully engaging with Local Planning Authorities
Experience of successful utility applications and connections
Technical competency, ideally demonstrated through degree level or equivalent experience in an energy or engineering discipline

ESG responsibilities
Support the Directors on all major projects as the ESCo co-ordination point for governance and service delivery
Provide monthly performance reporting to the Directors, utilising information from the SLT as part of the Governance regime
Ensure processes are developed that are fit for purpose, lean and legal across projects legislative and contractual requirements, with buy-in form SLT and ensure delivery
Attend and present at client review meetings ensuring contract compliance and best practice is developed and adopted as beneficial to the contract
Provide internal and external reporting on project performance and contract profitability
Lead on major project strategy and co-ordination on UK wide DHN projects
Review and adapt services as a result of customer negotiations for connection agreements, with appropriate support from SLT
Prepare / ensure contractors have prepared appropriate reporting materials for discharge of contract and contractor performance reviews and hold to account for non-performance against contracts
Support the Technical Manager on the interpretation and implementation of the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme and any relevant updates, both for Ener-Vate and Clients
Be accountable for the overall output as defined within the contracted project scope to the agreed time, budget and quality outcomes working with other department Heads.
